What many still search for under the old name, you find today under a new roof
From 2009 to the end of 2018, today’s SPA RESORT STYRIA was run as the Falkensteiner Therme & Golf Hotel Bad Waltersdorf. For ten years the name Falkensteiner stood for a thermal spa holiday in eastern Styria. Since 1 January 2019 the house has found a new identity – independent, regionally rooted, with a clear focus on adults only and calm.
What has remained
The location right opposite the Golfclub Bad Waltersdorf. Access to healing thermal water from 1,200 metres deep. The 140 rooms, suites and apartments. The Styrian cuisine. The orientation as an adult hotel adults only from 16 years. And the philosophy: recovery without distraction, wellness without compromise.
What has developed
Under the name SPA RESORT STYRIA, the house found an independent identity. Away from the international corporation, towards regional roots in the Thermen- und Vulkanland Styria. The kitchen relies even more strongly on local producers, the spa offering on traditional Styrian healing arts. The house is no longer a Falkensteiner, but it is still what many appreciated about it: a quiet retreat with healing thermal water and golf right outside the door.
Dog-friendly – on the golf course and in the hotel
What many regulars from the Falkensteiner era don’t know: the golf course right opposite is one of the few dog-friendly 18-hole courses in Austria. Dogs are allowed on a lead across the entire course. Four-legged friends are also welcome in the hotel itself. For golfers who don’t want to leave their dog behind, this is a rarity.
Rooms, suites, apartments – as usual
The room categories have remained: classic double rooms with a balcony, junior suites of 45 m², the golf suite of 75 m² with a direct view of the course. All with individual sleep systems, natural materials and a calm atmosphere. Anyone who stayed at the Falkensteiner before will feel at home here immediately.
Why adults only?
The decision to welcome exclusively guests from 16 years was already taken under Falkensteiner, and it remains in place. Adults have different needs for recovery than families with children. There is no children’s entertainment, no playgrounds, no loud pool areas. Only calm, warm thermal water and the certainty that relaxation is taken seriously here.

Many who still know the house as the Falkensteiner ask themselves: is another visit worthwhile? The answer is simple. Anyone who appreciated the location, the thermal spa and the calm back then will do so today too. The house has kept its character, only the orientation has become clearer. Regional instead of international, independent instead of corporate, focused on what makes Styria special: healing thermal water, wine culture, gentle hills.
